Privacy at JustBlock
Filtering and Max Clean cleanup run on your device. JustBlock does not send your browsing URLs or page contents to its billing service. If you subscribe to Max Clean, Stripe processes your payment and limited subscription data is used to activate it.
What the extension stores
Chrome storage holds enabled filter packs, your trusted-site list, Max Clean category and website preferences, Focus timers and schedules, muted topics, custom block and mask selectors saved by hostname and page path, a random installation ID and secret, and a cached subscription status. These settings support filtering, focus sessions and the areas you choose to hide or cover. Mask rules store selectors, labels and scope, not the selected private text.
What happens when you purchase
Stripe hosts Checkout and processes payment, contact, and billing information under Stripe's own privacy terms. The JustBlock billing service stores Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, price, status, billing-period information, encrypted restore codes, and random browser installation identifiers. It does not receive full card numbers.
When your extension checks or restores Max Clean, it sends a random installation ID and secret to billing.justblock.org. It sends a restore code only when you enter one. The service returns whether the linked subscription is active and when its paid period ends.
Browsing activity
Max Clean reads page structure locally to find matching clutter and the items you selected. Page URLs, page contents, and browsing history are not sent to JustBlock's billing service or Stripe by this feature.
Privacy masks and screenshots
Masks visually cover selected page elements. You choose the areas to cover; this feature does not automatically identify personal information. The underlying website data remains available to the website and developer tools. Clean screenshots capture the visible page and paint selected visible mask areas into the final PNG as solid redactions. Processing happens locally; this feature does not upload page images to JustBlock.
The unredacted capture is processed in memory. Only the final redacted image is temporarily passed to the review page. That temporary copy is removed when the review page loads, or expires after ten minutes if it is not opened. A PNG saved by you remains wherever you choose to save it.
Retention and requests
Subscription records are kept while an account is active and afterward only as needed to handle refunds, chargebacks, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. Hosting providers may keep limited access and security logs under their configured retention settings. Stripe maintains payment information under its own policies and obligations. For access or deletion requests, email support@justblock.org.
Why Chrome asks for permissions
- Request-filter permission applies bundled URL and domain rules.
- Storage keeps your preferences, site choices, and activation status.
- Website access runs Popup Guard and, when subscribed and enabled, Max Clean on pages you open.
- The release extension declares access to billing.justblock.org for checkout, restore and subscription validation. Free users are not registered with the billing service simply because this access is available.
